French Language Course

• Students will read a number of short texts confidently on vacations, French short stories, recipes, and more, and answer questions with justifications from the text

Students will be able to understand and make notes of newly found information and answer questions with ease through a number of oral practice exercises.

Students will be able to use the varied tenses and vocabulary learnt in the right context. A number of writing exercises will help them construct sentences sans difficulty.

• Students will be able to employ a number of tenses effectively to describe a given situation. They will also be able to dialogue with new vocabulary learnt. 

Students will learn a number of tenses and modes, along with comparisons and superlatives of adjectives. A holistic approach will be used to build understanding of sentence formations.

Students will be able to employ a vast variety of vocabulary on personal, professional and political life. 

Students will take a cultural trip through topics such as the French recipes, the hiring style, comparing French and Indian professional lives and much more.

Students will read a number direct factual texts such as letters and short official documents and locate and understand pertinent information.

Students will be able to understand and make notes of direct and factual information related to everyday personal or professional life, general conversation on radio shows and so on while building their articulation skills in the language. 

Students will be able to describe their sentiments and point of views in a linear sequence on familiar topics.

Students will be able to present a small monologue elaborating their point of views as well as argument on familiar topics. They will also be able to conduct conversations whilst comparing, expressing their satisfaction and dissatisfaction, all simultaneously.  

Students will grasp an understanding of the placement of adverbs, logical connectors, prepositional verbs, active and passive voice and much more.

Students will be able to express their opinions on a number of subjects using expressions of sentiments, logical connectors and verbs of resolution. 

Students will get accustomed to a number of topics recurring on French radio and television shows. They will also learn several grammar topics through songs and movie scenes.

Students will be able to identify immediately the type of text, the structure of the text as well as the function of the text. This will help them in finding answers during comprehension. 

Students will be able to understand and make notes of authentic documents of argumentative and informative nature such as round table conferences, political discourses, reports and conferences. 

Students will be able to write formal discourses such as letters, essays and letters to the editor. They will be able to have an articulate thought process and hence, be able to draft an argumentative text. 

Students will be able to prepare and present a detailed monologue of around 10-15 minutes on an official topic and finally present their point of view. They will also develop argumentative skills.

Students will learn to use some new modes, expressions of opposition, causes and consequences, as well as new tenses such as simple past. 

Students will develop a vocabulary on recent trends, memory and history, technology, society, environment and more. 

Students will get accustomed to a number of official themes and topics recurring on French radio and television shows. 

At this level, you will be in the first stage of the highly proficient [language] user’ category. You will then read books, novels, travelogues and will be able to understand more complex texts. Global topics and literary texts will be taught through experiential learning (videos, activities, etc)

You will be able to understand fast conversations, podcasts, etc as well as have a clearer comprehension of various slang, idioms and implicit meaning. You will be able to decipher contracted words that are used in everyday language.

At a proficient level, you will be able to write letters and have hands-on practice to use the language in a smooth manner. You will be given thorough knowledge about the literature, history, and culture of the language.

You will be able to express yourself fluently using colloquial expressions and well-structured detailed sentences in most situations: professional, social, academic and personal.

At this level, you will be in the second stage of the highly proficient [language] user’ category. You will have a great command of the language. You will be instructed to practice reading novels, magazines and other cultural-specific texts which will further improve your reading and simultaneous comprehension.

You will be able to easily understand every conversation, song lyrics, and stand up comedies easily.

Even overhearing will be easy at this level.

At this level, you will be able to write the language with ease and will achieve perfection in all circumstances. Additionally, you will be using a wide range of complex tenses.

At this level, you will be able to summarise in a spontaneous and fluent way any accounts and information from diverse written texts and spoken conversations.
